You make many good points about religion, but I think you are mainly talking about religious extremism rather than normal spirituality or educated religious communities. Those of us who believe in a universal creator do not necessarily believe that this entity will descend from the clouds and save the world. There are many subtle and informed spiritual beliefs that you do not seem to be aware of.
