Wonderful, careful reasoning in this article. So much attention to detail.

I have had these kinds of arguments with so many literature professors, not even about spiritual matters but about literary works. I went to graduate school in middle age and had missed the "turn" from aesthetics and tradition to theory in literary studies. As a student in a graduate program I was not allowed to reference any philosophers or literary critics who were critical of materialist philosophers like Foucault. Anyone who did was a right-wing "essentialist" who was in favour of elitism and who basically wanted to turn back the clock to a racist patriarchy. I gave up and played the game or I wouldn't have gotten my degree.
