What's important is, you succeeded. It took a few tries. Maybe writing about the process helped you finally quit. It may have helped others who are trying and failing and feeling bad about themselves.
When I met my husband ten years ago, he had just quit smoking and he was addicted to nicotine gum. After a couple of years he got off that. He has not smoked since. Addiction recovery can be a long process.
