What is the Secret of Happiness?
Hint: It’s spiritual rather than materialistic.
As my 61st birthday approaches, I realize that happiness is very attainable. I have been completely happy now for almost eleven years. That roughly corresponds with the time I have known my husband. I didn’t become happy the instant I met him, but I had achieved by that point the capacity for happiness. It had been growing for about three years, and not long after I met him, I reflected and saw that I was extremely happy. At first I attributed that feeling to having fallen in love with an incredible man, but as the years went by, I saw that my capacity for happiness was growing, and not just because of his presence.
Here are the rules that worked for me. Some or all of them may work for you. You might even like to add a few of your own.
Rule #1: Know your soul’s purpose.
Each of us came to this planet with a purpose and a plan for realizing that purpose. We chose our circumstances, including negative ones, that would help us achieve our soul’s purpose. Believe it or not, you chose your parents. You chose your profession. You chose your weaknesses. You chose your talents. You chose your level of privilege and wealth. You chose when and where to be born. You chose to meet up with certain people. You chose your…
