This is the only part of your article I disagree with. I just don’t see this. I know my evidence is anecdotal, but my experience of men is much more positive. I went on about 100 dates with about 90 men before I met my husband. None of them was evil, as far as I could tell. My daughter dated numerous men before settling down with her present boyfriend. One of those men raped her. Terrible, yes, but it was nowhere close to half. Both her former and present boyfriend are lovely guys.
I know that there is a problem with masculinity, which has long historical roots. There’s a problem with power that is just as deep. And I am aware that power tends to corrupt both men and women. But half of men, even young men are potential rapists? I think it is a much smaller, albeit dangerous, minority.
I’m sure my daughter’s rapist has numerous other victims. He is probably a sociopath. Unfortunately, men like him go scot free. That’s the real problem. A problem that our legal system refuses to deal with.
