This is so sad. I feel so bad for her. She was used and discarded, no doubt about it.

But I don't think that men like this do these things because "society" somehow encourages them to.

They lack empathy and have a sense of entitlement. They are ruled by their egos. Harrison Ford had a bad character back then and he has it now because he has never apologized for what he did.

I have no doubt that in 40 years or so, there will be just as many cases like this. Unless human nature radically changes before then, people (both men and women) will continue to be selfish and abuse their power whenever they can.

The people who don't do these things are usually more self-aware because they have known pain and trauma, and therefore know how it feels to be neglected, used, or abused.

People like Harrison Ford just don't get it and they don't want to even try.
