The sooner we, as a species, acknowledge the horrifying aspects of human nature, the better.
The truth is that almost no one can handle the amount of power that Jefferson had without abusing it. If we are to survive without destroying ourselves and the planet, we have to deal with this.
And a good start would be teaching the entire truth about our own history.
