The findings of this article make sense to me and my experience of life. It is not surprising to me that the few men who are willing to be the primary caregivers of their children are often outstanding parents. They are truly superior to average men and they are very rare.

Unfortunately, many women with mental health issues end up as single mothers because they both cannot handle being parents, they also cannot handle being partnered with men. Some of them cannot cooperate with anyone (I have an ex-friend like this who was a single mother with a lot of issues).

Of course statistics can be interpreted any way one likes, and the ones the author cites can be interpreted in a way that is favorable to anti-feminine sentiments; that doesn't mean they can just be dismissed. A lot more research needs to be done.

And don't forget that many custody cases today involve joint custody. To call parents in these kinds of arrangements single parents is somewhat problematic. Perhaps these situations should be studied more as well.

I applaud the author for looking closely at a current social issue that is all too often distorted by various polarized ideologies.

Kudos.
