Thank you for this thoughtful response. I suffered from anxiety and insomnia after this incident and my parents sent me to a psychiatrist, but he did absolutely nothing for me except prescribe tranquilizers and sleeping pills. He was annoyed by anything I said in the sessions. This was the state of mental health “care” in the ‘70s.
The boy who shot up my school also needed care. He was apparently sniffing glue and beating up kids. But his parents still bought him a rifle for his birthday!
