Thank you for so succinctly and comprehensively summarizing what is wrong with Canada. I will add one more atrocity. When I was growing up in St. John’s , Newfoundland in the 1970s, my friends and I loved going swimming at the Mount Cashel orphanage. It had an indoor pool that was open to the public on weekends. Years later, it came out that this home for boys was a hotbed of sexual abuse by the Catholic brothers who ran it. Those young boys, some as young as five, were horribly used and abused by the people who were supposed to be taking care of them.
I watched in horror the TV movie that was made about this atrocity in the 1990s called “The Boys of St. Vincent’s.”
Nobody would listen to these’ children’s stories while they were living there. Some committed suicide. Now that the truth has come out, the building has been torn down. But the truth and the pain live on.
