Is it possible that you are mixing up annuals and perennials? For example, peonies, which are perennials, bloom for only about two weeks a year. Annuals like impatiens will have blooms all summer. Of course roses are perennials and also bloom all summer. Obviously, I’m no horticulturalist, but I’m confused by your descriptions.
