In Ontario, where I live, there is an antique law on the books known as the British North America Act. This allows public funding of Catholic schools. It is insane. They get public funding to spread their propaganda, deny LGBTQ students human rights, and to discriminate against teachers who are not Catholic.

As a former public school teacher, the situation infuriates me. But everyone seems to believe that a 19th-century law must remain valid for all eternity. And politicians will not challenge the law because they are afraid Catholic voters won't vote for them.

So we have this inequitable system generation after generation.

Just like the Vatican. No one wants to challenge their power.
