I hear you. It really is a travesty of a democracy, among other things.

The reason we are moving here is my husband's job. He literally tried for ten years to find a full-time job in his field in Canada. These jobs simply don't exist where we live.

Despite its faults, the U.S. is actually still the land of opportunity in many ways. Its economy is bigger than Canada's, its population is larger. It's a hard choice, but in the end, the U.S. won for us.
