I am in the process of immigrating from Canada the US at age 62. I love a lot of the midwestern lifestyle. I do get frustrated, however, by the lack of public transportation in all but the largest vcities. Having to drive everywhere is an example, I think, of American extreme individualism. But it helps that I’m retired and don’t need to work. People are much friendlier than in Canada-although I hear that that is more of a midwestern thing.
