I don't know how I missed this comment from over a year ago, but thank you.

Yes, I have considered that. I feel like it might have something to do with vibrations (for want of a better term). Or maybe the universie is a giant hologram, as some theorists have suggested. All pure speculation of course, because science is not interested in exploring these kinds of questions.

I recently read a book called The Scientist and the Psychic: A Son's Exploration of His Mother's Gift by Canadian Author and research scientist Christian Smith (Random House Canada, 2020).

Smith was always a scientific materialist and skeptic, but his mother was a famous psychic in the 1970s and 80s.

What I loved about the book was that the author tried to remain open minded and theorized different ways that scientists could study psychic phenomena. He remains a skeptic about life after death, but believes that psychic abilities could have a scientific explanation. He comes up with several ways that science could study these phenomena rigorously and responsibly according to accepted scientific practices.
