As a parent a little bit younger than your dad, I have had many years to reflect on my mistakes as a parent and to try to make up for them with my only child. Sadly, your father did not live long enough to go through this process with you. But kudos to you for healing yourself and having the courage to express the complexity of the parent-child relationship. Keep on speaking your truth and let people start to deal with reality.
