All of this is, sadly, true. I believe that when we are attracted to psychopaths and sociopaths, it is because we lack knowledge of the darkness of human nature. Combine this with a lack of self awareness, then you find yourself enthralled with evil. For example, the people who support Donald Trump are not necessarily evil, but they fail to see his evil intentions because he attracts them within his charisma. And then he is free to cause as much destruction as he likes.
